April Fools Day Pranks

The Best April Fools Pranks In Australia

Want to see some of the best April Fools pranks ever pulled? These are some of the funniest April Fools Day products and some of the most insane products ever invented. There is a water powered jetpack, the bar bra, the inflatable human bowling ball game, a killer whale submarine, and bionic bopper cars. They’re completely wild. Anywhere else they would stand out, but at Yellow Octopus they fit right in.

Global media outlets covered Yellow Octopus’s pranks. Our April Fools Day pranks have been featured in The Washington Post, Gizmodo, and Lifehacker. They were considered some of the best April Fools pranks pulled and journalists rushed to cover them. You can check them out above.

What to expect on April Fools? Expect a colleague to put some tape on the bottom of your mouse so it doesn’t work. Expect your kids to swap-out the sugar and salt. Don’t be surprised if you see some ghosts and ghouls, because the best April Fools Day is full of surprises. Most importantly, expect some hilarious pranks to be covered by the media. And keep an eye out, you might just see a prank from Yellow Octopus.

What is the April Fools Day origin? How did it begin? Where? While there are competing origin stories of April Fools Day, including one from Genesis, the most widely accepted origin is from the English poet Geoffrey Chaucer’s 1932 book, The Canterbury Tales. In the “Nun’s Priest’s Tale,” a trick is played by convincing someone that the 32nd of March exists—which would really be April 1st.

Is April Fools Day a public holiday? Absolutely not—and don’t let anybody tell you differently (they’re trying to prank you). However, Odessa, the third most popular city in Ukraine, claims that they celebrate April 1st with a public holiday. Although I wonder if this is an elaborate prank.

What are the April Fools rules? Traditionally, there was a rule that you could only play April Fools pranks before 12 pm. But that rule has gone out the window. Nowadays, you can play them anytime on April 1st, right up until midnight. However, because people are suspicious on April 1st, many are completely throwing the rulebook out the window and conducting their pranks on the days leading up to April Fools. Still, there is one April Fools day prank that is both followed and incredibly important: don’t hurt anyone (or do anything illegal). So in summary: do your prank anytime on April Fools Day and make sure you don’t hurt anybody.

Here’s a little known fact: Apple was founded by Steve Jobs on April Fools Day, 1976. He chose that day because it showed they did things differently, that they ‘Think different’.
