Christmas In July Gifts & Gadgets
What’s not to love about Christmas in July? There’s great food, friends and family, and of course, presents. Who wouldn’t want a second Christmas? If the spirit of Christmas stays with you all year round, you’ve got to celebrate Christmas in July. We’d all have a second birthday each year, but sadly there’s no tradition for that. So since some legendary ancestors have created the epic tradition of Christmas in July, we must celebrate it, make the most of the opportunity, and continue it for future generations!
Why Do Australians Celebrate Christmas In July?
Christmas, on the 25th of December, falls in the middle of Australia’s summer. We play cricket in the backyard, eat prawns on the barbie, and enjoy a cold beer. But many Australians have a rich British and European heritage, where Christmas falls in the middle of winter. Many Aussies miss their mulled wine, roast dinners fresh from the oven, and huddling around a fire with the family. Since July is the coldest month in Australia, it gives us Aussies an opportunity to have a more traditional ‘cold’ Christmas. While most places in Australia don’t get the snow to celebrate a white Christmas, the colder weather makes it the perfect opportunity for a more traditional Christmas dinner. But more than the old weather and hot roast dinner, we celebrate Christmas in July because it’s an opportunity to enjoy some time with our friends and family.
