We've got plenty of cute & tiny novelty items at Yellow Octopus. Why? Because they're so much fun! Why do we love miniature things so much?

No one knows for sure. Maybe it brings things down to a scale we can appreciate a little better. Maybe it just makes things way cuter. Maybe it reminds us of our childhood. We might not know why, but we know we love them. That's why there's been viral YouTube channels dedicated to tiny cooking, or supermarket bust-ups over tiny collectable groceries, or a new trend in tiny houses. We just love tiny!

Some of the tiniest things in the whole world:

Smallest Country - The State of Vatican City is the smallest independent country! Measuring in at under 500 square kilometres, this tiny country is smaller than the Pentagon in the US.

Smallest Woman - The smallest woman to ever live was just 2 feet tall when she died in New York City... At 19 years old! That's barely over 60 cms. She's held that record since 1895.

Smallest Dinosaur - The smallest dinosaur on record has been dated back around 110 - 120 MILLION years ago in China. This fine feathered friend was just 39 cms long. But with a nice long tail, his body only took up about 15 cms! Adorable!

Smallest Cat - Okay, are you ready? This is pretty adorable. The world's smallest cat on record was just 19 cms long when fully grown! He lived with a loving family in USA. Is someone cutting onions in here? I'm not crying, you're crying.

Smallest Park - The smallest park in the world is in Portland. It's probably better described as a traffic island. But this tiny, approximately 2 feet wide park is completely official! It was added to Portland's official parks & recreation roster in 1976, and it even has an official sign. A tiny one, of course! It is also the only known colony for leprechauns west of Ireland - another tiny favourite!

Smallest Snail - Huh? I mean snails are already pretty small, how much smaller could they get?! Well... A LOT smaller. Scientists discovered a new TINY breed of snail in 2015. The LARGEST snail in this species came in at just under 0.7 millimetres tall. You need a microscope just to see them! (don't worry - we sell those!) Seriously, google 'Acmella Nana' right now. You won't regret it.
